As Christmas day edges closer and closer, many will be wrapping their presents for loved ones—a task that often proves difficult.

Whether you bought them months ago, in the Black Friday sales, or in a last-minute-Christmas-Eve-rush, we all want to make our presents look thought-out and very well considered.

Making them look fancy and put together might seem a million miles away, and inspire flashbacks to that Love Actually scene, but TikTok hacks offer easy demonstrations to make it possible.

From intricate bows to tackling odd-shaped gifts, these are some of the most effective wrapping hacks out there.

Assuming you've nailed the basics of wrapping boxed gifts, adding some interesting patterns is the natural next step.

Using an iPhone box as an example, popular lifestyle influencer Chantel Mila, @mama_mila_, showed her followers how she chooses to wrap her presents with an easy decorative fold.

Mila lined the box up in a square of wrapping paper and folded the end down as normal. Instead of folding the wrapping paper down at the sides though, she tucked it towards the box, making sets of wing-like structures.

The first set of paper wings are then folded over one another, making a crisscross like pattern. The second leftover set at the back is then folded over as well, doubling the pattern.

We've all been there, when you underestimate just how much paper is needed for your gift and find yourself with gaps on each side you try to fold. Instead of wasting the paper, try this TikTok hack to make it work.

It's a simple one too: try wrapping it diagonally. Usually, we line gifts up straight inside the rectangle of paper, but @learningexpressgifts suggests you place the gift inside the paper at a diagonal angle, so that the paper meets in the middle from all corners.

If you're having the opposite problem however, and find yourself with leftover paper you don't want to waste, this hack shows how to create beautiful bows from your scraps.

As shown by TikTok user @beeandblooms, after cutting any spare wrapping paper into equal sized strips, you need to use a stapler to secure the ends into folds.

Once you have enough, you then overlap them in a circular formation, eventually creating a full bow shape.

Likely one of the most popular gifts, bottles of wine make for easy and convenient gifts, but wrapping them is a whole other story.

Once more, @beeandblooms saved the day with this wrapping tip for bottles. Start as usual, by wrapping the paper around the wine bottle to create a cylindrical shape, with more paper at the neck than the bottom.

Next, fold the paper at the bottom of the bottle using small overlapping folds in a pinwheel formation. Then, roll the paper in small folds at the top until it reaches the top of the bottle.

If all else fails, bottle bags exist.

Similar to the wine bottle, most find themselves able to wrap candles but are often left with far too much paper at either end, creating a bulky look.

Instead, @beeandblooms suggests making sure to fold the ends in the pinwheel fashion, meeting at the center.

Using small folds circling around it not only means less paper is left hanging over the end, but it creates an impressive pattern.

No matter how many bows or intricate patterns you put on it, if you're unable to nail the basic wrapping element, it won't be quite as impressive. This makes it tricky when it comes to gifts that don't come in handy boxes, such as stuffed animals.

Thanks to TikToker Chantel Mila again, there's an easy way to get around this and make your irregular shaped gifts look regular.

"Fold the paper into a tri-fold and tape," she wrote on-screen. After folding the bottom upwards, create a diamond shape by folding the other way after. Fold the top and bottom corned inwards and tape together.

Once pushed out, it should create the structure of a bag, which the gift can then be placed into and secured at the top.
